Great product

This gel has good hold and does something not other product really manages with my hair - gives shine, even after scrunching out the crunch! I live in South Florida so my second day hair gets floofy, but almost nothing beats this humidity. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I don't love the scent. Scent is subjective, and for me this one veers so lemony that it makes me think of housecleaning products. It doesn't linger, so it's not a dealbreaker.

I used it twice so far and it has a cast that the oil can't even break.. not sure I'm doing this right or not, my hair looks "wet" and I hate it.
1st time I used it, it didnt do much of anything, 2nd time, I have an unbreakable cast...
Maybe with more practice I will learn how much I need and I'll update my review if I find it to work for me ..
I just don't have time to redo it the same day...
So I have to tolerate it till I wash it again..😕

Thank you for sharing this! Hydra Hold is designed to create a strong cast, but it should soften once the hair is fully dry and the cast is scrunched out. If the cast feels unbreakable or the hair still looks “wet,” it may mean a little too much product was used, the hair was not fully dry yet, or the gel was applied too heavily in certain spots.

For the next wash day, I’d try using less than you think you need, applying to very wet hair, letting it fully dry, and then breaking the cast with dry hands first before adding a small amount of oil. I know how frustrating it is when wash day does not turn out the way you hoped, and I’d be happy to help troubleshoot so you can get a softer result.

Even a little of this product made my curls “crunchy” which isn’t what I wanted. Other curl products are much better.

The “crunchy” feeling you noticed is actually something many curl products are designed to create — it’s called a gel cast. A cast forms while the hair dries and helps hold the curl pattern in place, reduce frizz, and improve definition.

Once your hair is fully dry, the next step is to gently break the cast by scrunching your hair with your hands (many people like to use a drop of oil when doing this). When the cast is broken, the crunch disappears and you’re left with soft, defined curls.
