Ideal For:

Texture: Medium to thick, coarse frizz-prone hair
(For fine hair, apply a small amount for defined hold without weighing hair down.)

It definitely has good hold and creates a cast. Sort of hard to soften up the cast. Of course you can buy the oil to get the cast out. This gel made my hair feel dry. Not a big fan of this product.

Thanks so much for sharing your feedback! Our Hydra Hold Gel is definitely designed to create strong hold and a cast—but it sounds like you may be using a bit too much product. This formula is highly concentrated and made with top-tier ingredients, so a little truly goes a long way.

Because it contains a film-forming polymer (VP/VA Copolymer), using too much can lead to a cast that’s harder to break and may feel drying. I’d encourage you to try again with a smaller amount—usually just a few pea-sized dollops, applied on wet hair in sections, does the trick. You should find the cast much easier to scrunch out, and your curls will still hold beautifully without feeling dry.

Love this gel!

I have fine hair that is easily weighed down by conditioners and heavier gels and I'm constantly looking for just the right products. Your gel, combined with a good mousse seems to be the perfect combination of grit and lightweight hold that works! To the point where I can actually get a second day out of my routine. And I don't have to use a ton to get the hold I need (I tend to have a heavy hand with gel but I don't need to with yours). No frizz, great hold, great curl definition. A winner!!
